Verily this is a Revelation from the Lord of the Worlds: 192 The honest Spirit (Gabriel) brought it down 193 to your heart, so that you will warn (the people of the dangers of disobeying God). 194 in clear Arabic speech. 195 And indeed, it is [mentioned] in the scriptures of former peoples. 196 And was this not a sign for them, that the scholars of the Descendants of Israel may recognise this Prophet? 197 And had We revealed it unto any of the non-Arabs, 198 And he had recited it to them [perfectly], they would [still] not have been believers in it. 199 Thus it passes through the hearts of the criminals. 200 They will not believe it until they behold the painful punishment. 201 But the (Penalty) will come to them of a sudden, while they perceive it not; 202 Then they will exclaim, "Could we have some respite?" 203 Do they really want Our chastisement to be expedited? 204 Have you then considered if We let them enjoy themselves for years, 205 and then what they were promised comes to them, 206 It will profit them not that they enjoyed (this life)! 207 And We did not destroy any city except that it had warners 208 To warn. For We are never unjust. 209 It was not the devils who brought down the Quran: 210 it is not for them, nor are they able. 211 The satans are barred from listening to anything from the heavens. 212 So call thou not upon another god with God, lest thou shouldst be one of those that are chastised. 213 And O dear Prophet (Mohammed – peace and blessings be upon him), warn your closest relatives. 214 And spread your wing of mercy for the believers following you. 215 Then if they disobey thee, say: "I am free (of responsibility) for what ye do!" 216 And put your trust in the All-Mighty, the Most Merciful, 217 Who sees you when you arise 218 and sees your movements among those who prostrate themselves: 219 Indeed only He is the All Hearing, the All Knowing. 220 Shall I inform you upon whom the devils descend? 221 They descend on every sinful, false one. 222 Who gives ear (to the devils and they pour what they may have heard of the unseen from the angels), and most of them are liars. 223 And the Poets,- It is those straying in Evil, who follow them: 224 Did you not see that they keep wandering in every valley? 225 And that they say that which they do not do, 226 Except those [poets] who believe and do righteous deeds and remember Allah often and defend [the Muslims] after they were wronged. And those who have wronged are going to know to what [kind of] return they will be returned. 227
