۞ [And God will thus command:] "Assemble all those who were bent on evildoing, together with others of their ilk and [with] all that they were wont to worship 22 "Instead of Allah, and lead them on to the way of flaming Fire (Hell); 23 and stop them there for questioning: 24 "'What is the matter with you that ye help not each other?'" 25 No indeed; but today they resign themselves in submission 26 And they will turn to one another, and question one another. 27 (The followers will say to their leaders): “You used to come to us from the right hand.” 28 Those say, 'No; on the contrary, you were not believers; 29 We had no power over you. You were a rebellious people, 30 So on us hath been justified the sentence of our Lord: verily we are to taste. 31 We led you astray as we were ourselves astray." 32 So verily on that Day they all in the torment will be sharers. 33 Verily We! in this wise We deal with the culprits. 34 They were the ones, who on being told, "God is only One," become puffed-up with pride 35 And they used to say, “Shall we forsake our Gods upon the sayings of a mad poet?” 36 In fact, he had brought them the truth and had acknowledged the Messengers (who were sent before him). 37 Verily ye are going to taste a torment afflictive. 38 and not be recompensed, except according to what you were doing.' 39 But the sincere (and devoted) Servants of Allah,- 40 Those will have a provision determined - 41 a variety of delicious fruits; and they shall be honoured 42 In gardens of delight, 43 (Sitting) on couches, face to face, 44 With cups from a flowing stream being passed around, 45 White, a pleasure unto the drinkers. 46 causing no headiness or intoxication. 47 And with them will be chaste females, restraining their glances (desiring none except their husbands), with wide and beautiful eyes. 48 so delicate as the hidden peel under an egg's shell. 49 So one among them turns to the other, questioning. – 50 A speaker of them will say: "Verily, I had a companion (in the world), 51 'Do you believe in the Day of Judgment? 52 When we are dead and have become dust and bones, are we indeed going to be requited? 53 Do you want to see him?' " 54 He will look down and see him in hell. 55 and says: "By God! Verily, thou hast almost destroyed me [too, O my erstwhile companion] 56 "Had it not been for the Grace of my Lord, I should certainly have been among those brought (there)! 57 Are we not then to die 58 except for our first death? Are we not going to be punished? 59 “This is, most certainly, the supreme success.” 60 For such a reward should the workers perform. 61 Is Paradise a better accommodation or the tree of zaqqum? 62 We have indeed made that a punishment for the unjust. 63 It is a tree that grows in the nethermost part of Hell. 64 its spathes are as the heads of Satans, 65 They will eat from it and fill their bellies with it; 66 then on top of it they have a brew of boiling water, 67 then their return is unto Hell. 68 They found their fathers in error, 69 yet they run in their footsteps, 70 And assuredly there went stray before them many of the ancients. 71 though We had sent among them warners. 72 and behold, how was the end of them that were warned, 73 except the sincere worshipers of Allah. 74
