And whosoever blindeth himself to the admonition of the Compassionate, We assign unto him a satan, and he becometh his companion. 36 Devils divert men from the [right] way, while they think that they are rightly guided. 37 Till, when he cometh unto Us, he saith (unto his comrade): Ah, would that between me and thee there were the distance of the two horizons - an evil comrade! 38 It will profit you not this Day (O you who turn away from Allah's remembrance and His worship, etc.) as you did wrong, (and) that you will be sharers (you and your Qarin) in the punishment. 39 What, shalt thou make the deaf to hear, or shalt thou guide the blind and him who is in manifest error? 40 We shall inflict retribution on them, whether We take you away from the world (before We do that), 41 or We shall show you what We have promised them; for surely We have complete power over them. 42 Therefore hold fast to that which has been revealed to you; surely you are on the right path. 43 And verily it is an admonition unto thee and thy people; and presently ye will be questioned. 44 Ask those of Our messengers whom We sent before you, "Did We ever appoint gods to be worshipped besides the Beneficent One?" 45
