The Moon (Al-Qamar)
In the Name of Allah, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful
The Last Day came near, and the moon split apart. 1 Yet if they see a sign they turn away, and they say 'A continuous sorcery!' 2 They denied (the Truth) and followed their own lusts. Yet everything will come to a decision 3 Messages deterring them from evil had come to them, 4 narratives that are full of consummate wisdom. But warnings do not avail them. 5 So turn thou away from them. Upon the day when the Caller shall call unto a horrible thing, 6 with downcast eyes they shall come out of their graves, as if they were locusts milling about 7 Hastening toward the summoner; the disbelievers say: This is a hard day. 8 ۞ The people of Nuh (Noah) denied (their Messenger) before them, they rejected Our slave, and said: "A madman!" and he was insolently rebuked and threatened. 9 So he prayed to his Lord: "I am helpless, deliver me." 10 Thereupon We opened the gates of the sky for water to pour down, 11 And We made water to flow forth in the land in springs, so the water gathered together according to a measure already ordained. 12 And We bare him on a thing of planks and nails. 13 Floating under Our Eyes, a reward for him who had been rejected! 14 We have left this as a sign: but will anyone take heed? 15 But how (terrible) was My Penalty and My Warning? 16 We have made the Quran easy to understand, but is there anyone who would pay attention? 17 The 'Ad had also disavowed. How was then My punishment and My commination! 18 We loosed against them a wind clamorous in a day of ill fortune continuous, 19 Which snatched away men as though they were palm trees pulled out by the roots. 20 How then were My punishment and My warnings! 21 And We have indeed made the Quran easy to understand and remember, then is there any that will remember (or receive admonition)? 22
