The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ WHEN THAT which must come to pass [at last] comes to pass, 1 – and then there will be no one to deny its occurrence – 2 Degrading (some) and exalting (others); 3 When the earth is shaken with a shock 4 and the mountains are totally shattered and crumble to pieces 5 Turned to dust, floating in the air, 6 You shall then become three groups. 7 Companions of the Right, what are the Companions of the Right? 8 And (then) those on the left hand; what of those on the left hand? 9 And those Foremost (in Faith) will be Foremost (in the Hereafter). 10 Those are the ones brought near [to Allah] 11 In gardens of bliss [will they dwell] 12 Many of them will be from the ancient people 13 And a few of later ages, 14 (They will be) on Thrones encrusted (with gold and precious stones), 15 reclining on them, arrayed face to face; 16 immortal youths shall go about them 17 With bowls and ewers and a cup from a pure spring 18 They shall not be affected with headache thereby, nor shall they get exhausted, 19 And fruit of what they select 20 Bird meats that they relish, 21 and wide-eyed houris 22 like unto pearls [still] hidden in their shells. 23 a recompense for that they laboured. 24 They will not hear therein any vain or sinful talk, 25 but only the tiding of inner soundness and peace. 26 As for the people of the right hand, how happy they will be! 27 They shall recline on high amidst lote trees without thorns 28 And clusters of banana plants. 29 and shade extended, 30 And water gushing, 31 and fruits in abundance, 32 Neither ending nor forbidden. 33 on raised couches. 34 Verily We! We have created those maidens by a creation. 35 So made them as maidens. 36 chastely amorous, 37 For those on the right hand; 38
