Overwhelming (Al-Ghaasheyah)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
Certainly the news of the calamity that will overwhelm has come to you! 1 (Some) faces on that day shall be downcast, 2 Toiling, weary, 3 (Yet) Going into the blazing fire. 4 and will be made to drink from a boiling spring, 5 no food for them except thorny plants 6 that will neither nourish nor satisfy their hunger. 7 On that very Day some faces shall be radiant with joy, 8 Rejoicing over their efforts. 9 in a Garden on high, 10 wherein thou wilt hear no empty talk. 11 In it is a flowing spring. 12 therein uplifted couches 13 And drinking-cups ready placed, 14 and arranged cushions 15 and outspread carpets. 16 Do they never reflect on the camels and how they were created, 17 And at the sky - how it is raised? 18 and on the mountains, how they are firmly set up, 19 And at the earth, how it is spread out? 20 So render good counsel, for you are simply required to counsel, 21 You are not charged to oversee them. 22 Save the one who turns away and disbelieves 23 God shall chastise him with the greatest chastisement. 24 Verily unto Us is their return. 25 And Ours their reckoning. 26
