And when thy Lord called to Moses, 'Go to the people of the evildoers, 10 "The people of the Pharaoh: will they not fear Allah?" 11 He said: O my Lord! surely I fear that they will reject me; 12 "My breast will be straitened. And my speech may not go (smoothly): so send unto Aaron. 13 And they have a charge (of murder) against me. So I fear that they will kill me." 14 Said He, 'No indeed; but go, both of you, with Our signs, and We assuredly shall be with you, listening. 15 And go, both of you, unto Pharaoh and say, 'Behold, we bear a message from the Sustainer of all the worlds: 16 let the Children of Israel go with us!'" 17 (Firon) said: Did we not bring you up as a child among us, and you tarried among us for (many) years of your life? 18 You spent many years of your life among us and then you committed that deed of yours. You are very ungrateful indeed." 19 Replied [Moses]: "I committed it while I was still going astray; 20 So I fled from you when I feared you, then my Lord granted me wisdom and made me of the apostles; 21 And is this a favor of which you remind me - that you have enslaved the Children of Israel?" 22 Pharaoh said, "What is this: Lord of the Universe?" 23 Moses answered: "The Lord of the heavens and the earth and of all that is between them, if you were only to believe." 24 (Firon) said to those around him: Do you not hear? 25 (Moses continued): "Your Lord and the Lord of your fathers before you." 26 Fir'awn said: verily your apostle who hath been sent unto you is mad. 27 (Moses) said: "Lord of the East and the West, and all between! if ye only had sense!" 28 [Pharaoh] said, "If you take a god other than me, I will surely place you among those imprisoned." 29 (Moses) said: "Even if I showed you something clear (and) convincing?" 30 [Pharaoh] said, "Then bring it, if you should be of the truthful." 31 So (Moses) cast his staff, and lo, it turned into a living serpent. 32 Then he drew out his hand, and it was luminous to the onlookers. 33
