The Stars (Al-Najm)
62 verses, revealed in Mecca after Absoluteness (Al-Ikhlaas) before He Frowned ('Abasa)
In the name of God, The Most Gracious, The Dispenser of Grace
By the star when it goes down, (or vanishes). 1 Your Companion is neither astray nor being misled. 2 Nor doth he speak of (his own) desire. 3 It is a revelations which has been revealed to him 4 Which one of mighty powers hath taught him, 5 one endowed with immense wisdom. He came forth and stood poised, 6 And he is in the highest part of the horizon. 7 Then he drew nigh and came down 8 And was at a distance of two bow lengths or nearer. 9 And he revealed to His Servant what he revealed. 10 The heart was not untrue in (making him see) what he saw. 11 What! So do you dispute with him regarding what he saw? 12 For indeed he saw him at a second descent, 13 by the lote tree beyond which none may pass 14 near unto the garden of promise. 15 Behold, the Lote-tree was shrouded (in mystery unspeakable!) 16 (Muhammad's) eyes did not deceive him, nor did they lead him to falsehood. 17 He certainly saw of the greatest signs of his Lord. 18 Have ye seen Lat. and 'Uzza, 19 and Manat the third, the other? 20 Are yours the males and His the females? 21 That, then, is an unjust division. 22 They are but names which ye have named, ye and your fathers, for which Allah hath revealed no warrant. They follow but a guess and that which (they) themselves desire. And now the guidance from their Lord hath come unto them. 23 Does man imagine that whatever he wishes for is right for him? 24 despite the fact that [both] the life to come and this present [one] belong to God [alone]? 25

How does the memorization exercise algorithm work? At the lowest level 0, all words are visible. While the highest level 9 hides all words. What about at mid-level, like 3, for example? You might think that the algorithm hides precisely 3 out of every nine words. Not quite! At level 3, each word has a 3 out of 9 chance to hide, and 6 out of 9 to be visible. In other words, it is possible, but highly unlikely, for all words at level 3 to be hidden, or, that all of them to be visible! Also, at mid-levels, and in proportion to the difficulty level, hideouts can be partially incomplete or transparent so that words may be partially visible underneath.
