Resurrection (Al-Qeyaamah)
In the name of Allah, the Merciful, the Compassionate
۞ Nay! I swear by the day of resurrection. 1 No! I swear by the reproachful soul. 2 Does man think We shall not put his bones together? 3 Surely yes, why not? We can properly make all his phalanxes. 4 Nay, but man desires to continue on as a libertine, 5 He asketh: When will be this Day of Resurrection? 6 At length, when the sight is dazed, 7 And the moon darkens 8 And the sun and moon are conjoined, 9 On that day man will cry out, “Where shall I flee?” 10 Alas! No refuge! 11 For on that Day the refuge shall be to your Lord. 12 To man will be declared on that Day that which he hath sent on and left behind. 13 Oh, but man is a telling witness against himself, 14 even though he offers his excuses. 15 Move not thy tongue with it to hasten it; 16 Lo! upon Us (resteth) the putting together thereof and the reading thereof. 17 So when We have recited it [through Gabriel], then follow its recitation. 18 and then, behold, it will be for Us to make its meaning clear. 19 Nay! But you love the present life, 20 And leave the Hereafter. 21 Some faces that Day shall be Nadirah (shining and radiant). 22 Looking at their Lord. 23 And how many faces on that Day will be woe-begone 24 Thinking that some calamity was about to fall on them; 25 No! When the soul has reached the collar bones 26 and it is said, 'Who is an enchanter?' 27 And he (the dying person) will conclude that it was (the time) of departing (death); 28 And one leg will be joined with another: 29 On that Day you will be driven to your Lord. 30
