The News (Al-Naba')
In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful
۞ What are they questioning each other about? 1 About the awesome tiding [of resurrection,] 2 About which they have been differing? 3 Nay, they will come to know! 4 Nay, again, they will come to know! 5 Have We not made the earth as a bed, 6 And the mountains as stakes? 7 And We have created you in pairs (male and female, tall and short, good and bad, etc.). 8 and made your sleep a means of repose, 9 and We appointed night for a garment, 10 And made the day for seeking livelihood. 11 We raised over you several secure (skies), 12 And have made (therein) a shinning lamp (sun). 13 and have sent down from the clouds, pouring rain 14 That We may produce therewith corn and vegetations, 15 And gardens of thick foliage. 16 Lo! the Day of Decision is a fixed time, 17 the Day that the Horn is blown, and you shall come in crowds 18 And the heaven shall be opened, and it will become as gates, 19 And the mountains shall be moved away from their places and they will be as if they were a mirage. 20 Truly Hell is as a place of ambush, 21 For the transgressors, a place of return, 22 where they shall remain for ages, 23 and where they will taste neither coolness nor any drink 24 save boiling water and a stinking fluid -- 25 a meet requital [for their sins]! 26 Indeed, they did not hope for a Reckoning, 27 and roundly denied Our Signs as false. 28 And everything have We recorded in a Book. 29 "So taste ye (the fruits of your deeds); for no increase shall We grant you, except in Punishment." 30
