The Snatchers (Al-Naze'aat)
In the name of Allah, the Merciful, the Compassionate
By the (angels) who tear out (the souls of the wicked) with violence; 1 by the drawers (the angels of death), gently drawing (the souls of the believers), 2 and by those that speedily glide along (the cosmos), 3 And by those that press forward as in a race (i.e. the angels or stars or the horses, etc.). 4 And those who arrange [each] matter, 5 One Day everything that can be in commotion will be in violent commotion, 6 Followed by the second blast, 7 Hearts will pound loudly on that day, 8 while eyes will be downcast. 9 They say: "Shall we indeed be returned to (our) former state of life? 10 even after we have turned into decayed bones?" 11 [And] they add, "That, then, would be a return with loss!" 12 It will only be a single blast, 13 And lo! they will be awakened. 14 Has there come to you the story of Musa (Moses)? 15 When his Lord called to him in the sacred valley of Tuwa, 16 saying 'Go to Pharaoh, he has become exceedingly insolent, 17 and say, 'Will you reform yourself? 18 And let me guide you to your Lord so you would fear [Him]?'" 19 Moses showed him the great miracle 20 but he denied it as false and disobeyed, 21 He then turned away, striving in his effort. 22 And he summoned all his people, 23 And said, "I am your most exalted lord." 24 And thereupon God took him to task, [and made him] a warning example in the life to come as well as in this world. 25 Surely there is a great lesson in it for whoever would fear (Allah). 26
