The Splitting (Al-Inshiqaaq)
In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful
۞ WHEN THE SKY is cleft asunder, 1 obeying its Sustainer, as in truth it must; 2 when the earth is stretched out 3 And throws out whatever it contains and is empty, 4 And it listens to the command of its Lord – and that befits it. 5 O human, you are working hard towards your Lord and you will meet Him. 6 So whoever is given his record of deeds in his right hand – 7 he shall surely receive an easy reckoning 8 And will return to his family in joy! 9 And as to him who shall be given his book from behind his back 10 He surely will invoke destruction 11 and he shall roast at a Blaze. 12 Indeed he used to rejoice in his home. 13 and surely thought he would never return (to his Lord). 14 Yea indeed! His Sustainer did see all that was in him! 15 Nay; I swear by the twilight; 16 or by the night in which things all come together to rest, 17 And by the moon when she is at the full, 18 That you shall most certainly enter one state after another. 19 But what is the matter with them that they do not believe, 20 and when the Qur'an is recited to them, they do not prostrate themselves? ۩ 21 In fact, they reject the Quran, 22 Whereas Allah knoweth best that which they cherish. 23 Hence, give them the tiding of grievous suffering [in the life to come] 24 Except for those who believe and do righteous deeds. For them is a reward uninterrupted. 25
