Whoso blinds himself to the Remembrance of the All-merciful, to him We assign a Satan for comrade; 36 whereupon, behold, these [evil impulses] bar all such from the path [of truth,] making them think that they are guided aright! 37 Till, when (such a one) comes to Us, he says [to his Qarin (Satan / devil companion)] "Would that between me and you were the distance of the two easts (or the east and west)" a worst (type of) companion (indeed)! 38 And since you were unjust, it will not profit you this day that you are sharers in the chastisement. 39 Can you [Prophet] make the deaf hear? Or guide either the blind or those who are in manifest error? 40 Even if We take thee away, We shall be sure to exact retribution from them, 41 or make you see the end that We had promised them, for We have full power over them. 42 So hold thou fast to the Revelation sent down to thee; verily thou art on a Straight Way. 43 It is a (source) of greatness for you and your people. You will surely be questioned about it. 44 And ask them – did any of the Noble Messengers We sent before you, appoint any other Gods except the Most Gracious, whom they used to worship? 45
