Overwhelming (Al-Ghaasheyah)
In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful
Has not there come to you the news of the overwhelming calamity? 1 Some faces, that Day, will be humiliated, 2 be toiling and worn-out; 3 They will suffer the heat of the blazing fire 4 Drinking from a boiling spring, 5 They shall have no food but of thorns, 6 Which will neither nourish nor satisfy hunger. 7 However, on that day the faces of other people will be happy. 8 Glad for their effort past, 9 in a sublime garden, 10 Where they shall neither hear harmful speech nor falsehood, 11 In it is a flowing spring. 12 raised couches, 13 well arranged goblets, 14 and cushions ranged, 15 And carpets spread around. 16 Do they not look at the Camels, how they are made?- 17 And at the Sky, how it is raised high?- 18 And at the mountains - how they are erected? 19 And at the earth, how it is outspread? 20 Therefore advise; indeed you are a proclaimer of advice. (The Holy Prophet is a Remembrance from Allah.) 21 Thou art not over them a warden. 22 But whoever turns back and denies the truth, 23 Then Allah will punish him with the greatest punishment. 24 Indeed only towards Us is their return 25 Then it will be for Us to call them to account. 26
