And they ask thee regarding the spirit; say thou: the spirit is by the command of my Lord, and ye have not been vouchsafed of knowledge save a little. 85 If We pleased, We would certainly take away that which We have revealed to you, then you would find no guardian for you against Us, 86 [Thou art spared] only by thy Sustainer's grace: behold, His favour towards thee is great indeed! 87 Say: "Surely, if mankind and jinn were to get together to produce the like of this Qur'an, they will never be able to produce the like of it, howsoever they might help one another." 88 We have indeed turned about for men in this Koran every manner of similitude; yet most men refuse all but unbelief. 89 They said: "We shall not accept your Message until you cause a spring to gush forth for us from the earth; 90 Or [until] you have a garden of palm tress and grapes and make rivers gush forth within them in force [and abundance] 91 or you cause the heavens to fall down on us in pieces, as you have claimed; or you bring God and the angels before us face to face; 92 “Or you have a house of gold, or you ascend up into heaven; and even then we shall not believe in your ascent unless you send down a book upon us, which we may read”; say (O dear Prophet Mohammed peace and blessings be upon him), “Purity is to my Lord who am I except a human, sent by Allah?” (* These can be done, only when Allah commands.) 93
