The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
96 verses, revealed in Mecca after T H (Taa Haa) before The Poets (Alshu'araa')
In the name of Allah, the Merciful, the Compassionate
۞ When the event befalleth - 1 and then there will be no one to deny its occurrence 2 Abasing (some), exalting (others); 3 When the earth will be shaken with a terrible shake. 4 And the mountains will be crushed, blown to bits. 5 Turned to dust, floating in the air, 6 and you shall be three bands -- 7 Those on the right hand; how happy shall those on the right hand be! 8 The people of the left hand - those whose books of records will be placed in their left hands. How miserable they will be! 9 Then the foremost, how pre-excellent, 10 those are they brought nigh the Throne, 11 in the Gardens of Delight 12 A multitude of those of old 13 and a lesser number from the later generations. 14 They will recline on jewelled couches 15 Reclining on them, facing each other. 16 Round about them shall go youths never altering in age, 17 With bowls and ewers and a cup from a pure spring 18 that will neither make the head throb, nor intoxicate, 19 And with fruits, any that they may select: 20 and with the flesh of any fowl that they may desire to eat; 21 and fair maidens with large, lustrous eyes 22 beautiful as pearls hidden in their shells. 23 Reward for what they used to do. 24 No empty talk will they hear there, nor any call to sin, 25 All talk will be sound and upright. 26 And those on the right how (fortunate) are those on the right! 27 (They will be) among thornless lote-trees, 28 and clustered bananas, 29 In shade long-extended, 30 Gushing water, 31 and fruit abounding, 32 never-ending and unforbidden. 33 And carpets raised. 34 Perfectly We formed them, perfect, 35 So made them as maidens. 36 Lovers, friends, 37 All this will be for the People on the Right; 38
