The Hidden Secret (Al-Muddath-thir)
In the Name of God, the Merciful, the Compassionate
O thou wrapped up (in the mantle)! 1 Arise and warn, 2 And your Lord (Allah) magnify! 3 purify your garments; 4 and flee from the statues! 5 Do not give, thinking to gain greater 6 and be patient unto thy Lord. 7 When the Trumpet shall be sounded, 8 that Day will be a hard and distressing Day. 9 and for the disbelievers, in particular, it will not be at all easy. 10 Leave Me alone with he whom I created 11 whom I have endowed with abundant riches, 12 and children living in his presence, 13 whose life I have made run smoothly 14 Yet he wants that I should give him more. 15 By no means! He has been stubbornly hostile to Our revelation: 16 [and so] I shall constrain him to endure a painful uphill climb! 17 Indeed he thought, and inwardly decided. 18 May he be accursed, how he planned! 19 Again, death seize him, how he determined! 20 Then he looked, 21 Then he frowned and scowled, 22 Then he turned back and was arrogant 23 and said, "This is nothing but sorcery from the ancients. 24 "This is nothing but the word of a human being!" 25 Soon will I cast him into Hell-Fire! 26 And what will make you know exactly what Hell-fire is? 27 It leaves naught nor does it spare aught. 28 Burning the skins! 29 Over it are Nineteen. 30 We have appointed only angels to be masters of the Fire, and their number We have appointed only as a trial for the unbelievers, that those who were given the Book may have certainty, and that those who believe may increase in belief, and that those who were given the Book and those who believe may not be in-doubt, and that those in whose hearts there is sickness, and the unbelievers, may say, 'What did God intend by this as a similitude?' So God leads astray whomsoever He will, and He guides whomsoever He will; and none knows the hosts of thy Lord but He. And it is naught but a Reminder to mortals. 31
