۞ And those who fear not the meeting with Us say: wherefore are not angels sent down unto us or wherefore we see not our Lord! Assuredly they have proven stiff-necked in their souls and have exceeded the bounds with excess great. 21 On the day when they shall see the angels, there shall be no joy on that day for the guilty, and they shall say: It is a forbidden thing totally prohibited. 22 And We shall set upon that which they worked, and shall make it as dust wind-scattered. 23 [whereas] on that same Day those who are destined for paradise will be graced with the best of abodes and the fairest place of repose. 24 And [mention] the Day when the heaven will split open with [emerging] clouds, and the angels will be sent down in successive descent. 25 The dominion on that Day shall be the true dominion of the Compassionate, and it shall be a day upon the infidels hard. 26 The unjust man will bite at his hand and say, "Would that I had stood by the Messenger! 27 Would that I had never chosen so and so for my companion! 28 He led me away from the remembrance after it had come to me. And ever is Satan, to man, a deserter." 29 And the Apostle cried out: O my Lord! surely my people have treated this Quran as a forsaken thing. 30 And this is how We had appointed guilty people as enemies to every Prophet; and Allah is Sufficient, to guide and to aid. 31 The unbelievers say: "Why was the whole Qur'an not sent down all at once to him?" It was sent thus that We may keep your heart resolute. So We enunciated it by steps and distinctly. 32 And no question do they bring to thee but We reveal to thee the truth and the best explanation (thereof). 33 The ones who are gathered on their faces to Hell - those are the worst in position and farthest astray in [their] way. 34
