۞ Gather together those who did wrong and their comrades and that which they were wont to worship 22 besides God, and show them the way of hell. 23 And stop them, for they must be questioned. 24 'Why do you not help one another? 25 In fact, on that day they will be submissive. 26 and approach each other with questions, 27 Saying: "It were you who imposed yourselves upon us." 28 They will answer, “You yourselves did not have faith!” 29 we had no power over you; but you yourselves were a rebellious people. 30 So our Lord's Word is realised against us; we are tasting it. 31 And we led you to deviation; indeed, we were deviators." 32 So they shall on that day be sharers in the chastisement one with another. 33 This is how We deal with the criminals. 34 Truly, when it was said to them: La ilaha ill-Allah "(none has the right to be worshipped but Allah)," they puffed themselves up with pride (i.e. denied it). 35 And said: "Should we abandon our gods for the sake of an insane poet?" 36 Aye! he hath come with the truth, and he confesseth to the sent ones. 37 (They will be told), "You will certainly suffer the painful torment 38 And you shall not be rewarded except (for) what you did. 39 But Allah's chosen servants (shall be spared this woeful end). 40 for them awaits a known provision, 41 fruits of various kinds; and they shall be honoured, 42 (They will live) in the bountiful gardens, 43 on couches facing each other. 44 a cup filled with wine from its springs, will be passed around to them; 45 white, a delight to the drinkers, 46 No headiness there shall be therein, nor shall they be therewith inebriated. 47 With them will be spouses, modest of gaze and beautiful of eye, 48 As if they were eggs carefully protected. 49 They advance one upon another, asking each other questions. 50 One of them will start the talk and say: "I had an intimate companion (on the earth), 51 'Do you believe in the Day of Judgment? 52 (Do you think) we would be paid back our due when we are dead and reduced to dust and bones?' 53 He said: 'Will you look down?' 54 Then, he will look and see him in the midst of Hell. 55 He said: "By Allah! thou wast little short of bringing me to perdition! 56 But for the Favor of Allah I should have surely been among those who were arraigned (with you in Hell). 57 (Allah informs about that true believer that he said): "Are we then not to die (any more)? 58 except for our first death, and are we not chastised? 59 Verily this! that is the supreme achievement. 60 For the like of this, then, let the workers work. 61 Is this better or the tree of Zaqqum 62 Which We have reserved as punishment for evil-doers? 63 Verily, it is a tree that springs out of the bottom of Hell-fire, 64 The shoots of its fruit-stalks are like the heads of devils: 65 And verily they must eat thereof and fill their bellies therewith. 66 And thereafter verily they shall have thereon a draught of boiling water. 67 then their return is unto Hell. 68 They indeed found their fathers astray, 69 So they (too) were rushed down on their footsteps! 70 And assuredly many of the ancients went astray before them, 71 We had certainly sent warners to them. 72 Then look how was the end of those who were warned - 73 Except the sincere (and devoted) Servants of Allah. 74
