He Frowned ('Abasa)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ HE FROWNED AND turned away, 1 because the blind man approached him! 2 What could inform thee but that he might grow (in grace) 3 Or be reminded and the remembrance would benefit him? 4 As for him who is not in want of any thing, 5 Unto him thou attendest. 6 although it is not for you to be concerned if he remained unpurified. 7 But as for him who cometh unto thee with earnest purpose 8 And whereas he fears, 9 Him thou neglectest! 10 No indeed; this is only a Reminder. 11 For any one who desires to bear it in mind, 12 Inscribed in Writs honoured, 13 exalted, purified, 14 By the hands of scribes. 15 noble, pious. 16 Woe to man! What hath made him reject Allah; 17 Out of what did Allah create him? 18 From a sperm-drop He created him and destined for him; 19 Then the way He made easy. 20 Then He causes his death and provides a grave for him. 21 and then, if it be His will, He shall raise him again to life, 22 Nay; but he has not done what He bade him. 23 Let the human being think about (how We produce) his food. 24 How We poured down water in torrents, 25 Then split the earth in clefts 26 then caused the grain to grow out of it, 27 And grapes and vegetables 28 And olive-trees and palm-trees 29 And gardens of dense shrubbery 30 and fruits and fodder 31 an enjoyment for you and your flocks. 32 So when the deafening Shout arrives, 33 On the Day whereon a man shall flee from his brother, 34 his mother and his father, 35 And his wife and his children, 36 For every man, that Day, will be a matter adequate for him. 37 Many faces will that day be bright, 38 Laughing, rejoicing at good news (of Paradise). 39 some faces on that day shall be dusty 40 Blackness will cover them. 41 Those are the disbelievers, the wicked. 42
