The Cheaters (Al-Mutaffifeen)
In the Name of God, the Merciful, the Compassionate
WOE TO THOSE who give short measure, 1 who, when people measure for them, take full measure, 2 And who, when they measure unto them or weigh for them, diminish. 3 Do they not think they will be raised (to life) again 4 on a fateful Day. 5 The Day when mankind will stand before the Lord of the Universe? 6 Indeed! The record of the wicked is in the Sijjin -- 7 And what could make thee conceive what that that mode inescapable will be? 8 It is a written book. 9 Ah the woe that day for those who deny, 10 Who call the Day of judgement a lie! 11 No one rejects it except the sinful transgressors 12 who, when listening to Our revelations, say, "These are only ancient legends". 13 No! Rather, the stain has covered their hearts of that which they were earning. 14 Therefore they will be screened off from their Lord that day, 15 Then lo! they verily will burn in hell, 16 Then it will be said [to them], "This is what you used to deny." 17 But, the Book of the righteous is in the 'Illiyoon. 18 Would that you knew what Illiyin is! 19 It is a (repository of) distinctly written record 20 which the angels placed near Allah to safeguard. 21 Surely the pious shall be in bliss, 22 upon couches gazing; 23 Thou wilt recognize in their faces the brightness of delight. 24 They will be served the choicest wine, sealed 25 With a sealing of musk, which those who aspire for the best should desire, -- 26 And the admixture of it is a water of Tasnim, 27 A spring, from (the waters) whereof drink those Nearest to Allah. 28 The sinners had been laughing at the believers. 29 And when they passed by them, they would exchange derisive glances. 30 and, on returning to their people, boast about what they had done. 31 And when they saw them, they said: "They have indeed gone astray." 32 (they said so although) they had not been appointed watchers over them. 33 This day it is those who believe who have the laugh of disbelievers, 34 as they sit on couches, gazing around. 35 Have the unbelievers been rewarded what they were doing? 36
