The Embryo (Al-Alaq)
Allah - beginning with the name of - the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
Read with the name of your Lord Who created, 1 Created man from an embryo; 2 Read - for thy Sustainer is the Most Bountiful One 3 Who taught by the pen - 4 Has taught man that which he knew not. 5 Nay, verily, man becomes grossly overweening 6 Because he considers himself self-sufficient. 7 Surely to your Lord is your return. 8 Hast thou seen him who dissuadeth 9 a servant of Ours from prayer? 10 Hast thou considered whether he is on the right way, 11 Or had enjoined piety, (it would have been better)? 12 Tell me if he (the disbeliever, Abu Jahl) denies (the truth, i.e. this Quran), and turns away? 13 Did he not know that God sees? 14 Yes certainly, if he does not desist, We will seize him by the forelock. 15 The lying, sinful forelock - 16 Then let him summon his council, 17 We will call the angels of Hell. 18 Yes indeed; do not listen to him – and prostrate, and become close to Us. (Command of Prostration # 14) ۩ 19
