۞ Gather together those who were unjust and their associates, and what they used to worship 22 other than Allah, and guide them to the Path of Hell! 23 And halt them so that they may be questioned. 24 "How is it that [now] you cannot succour one another?" 25 No, today they will resign themselves in submission, 26 They will turn upon one another, and question one another. 27 saying: 'You used to come to us from the right hand' 28 Others will respond, "It was you who did not want to have any faith. 29 We had no authority over you, in fact, you were a rebellious people. 30 So the sentence of our Lord has come to pass against us: (now) we shall surely taste; 31 We led you astray as we were ourselves astray." 32 So indeed they, that Day, will be sharing in the punishment. 33 Verily that is how We shall deal with Sinners. 34 For they, when they were told that there is no god except Allah, would puff themselves up with Pride, 35 and would say: "Shall we, then, give up our deities at the bidding of a mad poet?" 36 'No indeed; but he brought the truth, and confirmed the Envoys. 37 (They will be told), "You will certainly suffer the painful torment 38 and be rewarded only according to your deeds." 39 But the chosen servants of God; 40 For them there is a known provision, 41 and fruits while they are honored. 42 In the Gardens of delight (Paradise), 43 sitting face to face upon couches, 44 a goblet from a spring shall be passed round to them 45 Clear, delicious to drink, 46 There will neither be any harm in it for their body nor will it intoxicate their mind. 47 And with them will be women limiting [their] glances, with large, [beautiful] eyes, 48 so delicate as the hidden peel under an egg's shell. 49 They will turn to each other and ask questions. 50 A speaker of them saith: Lo! I had a comrade 51 who would say, "Are you a confirmer? 52 (Do you think) we would be paid back our due when we are dead and reduced to dust and bones?' 53 [And] he adds: "Would you like to look [and see him]?" 54 And he will look and see him in the midst of the Hellfire. 55 He shall say: By Allah! you had almost caused me to perish; 56 If not for the favor of my Lord, I would have been of those brought in [to Hell]. 57 What then, shall we not die 58 Saving our former death, and are we not to be punished? 59 “This is, most certainly, the supreme success.” 60 For the like of this, then, let the workers work. 61 Is that (Paradise) better entertainment or the tree of Zaqqum (a horrible tree in Hell)? 62 Lo! We have appointed it a torment for wrong-doers. 63 It is a tree that grows in the nethermost part of Hell. 64 and its fruits are like the heads of devils. 65 They will eat and fill their bellies with it, 66 Then indeed, they will have after it a mixture of scalding water. 67 Then most surely their return shall be to hell. 68 They indeed found their fathers astray, 69 yet they run in their footsteps, 70 Most of the ancient people had also gone astray. 71 And We had already sent among them warners. 72 Then see how was the end of those warned, 73 Save the bondmen of Allah sincere. 74
