Smoke (Al-Dukhaan)
59 verses, revealed in Mecca after Vanity (Al-Zukhruf) before Kneeling (Al-Jaatheyah)
In the name of Allah, most benevolent, ever-merciful
Ha. Mim. 1 By the Clear Book 2 We revealed it on a Blessed Night, for We were intent on warning; 3 Therein is decreed every affair of wisdom 4 As a command from Our presence - Lo! We are ever sending - 5 As mercy from your Lord. Indeed, He is the Hearing, the Knowing. 6 The Lord of the heavens and the earth and what is between them, if you would be sure. 7 There is no god other than He, who gives you life and death, your Lord and the Lord of your fathers of old. 8 Nay! They play in doubt. 9 But watch thou (O Muhammad) for the day when the sky will produce visible smoke 10 covering the people; this is a painful chastisement. 11 (They will say:) "Our Lord! remove the Penalty from us, for we do really believe!" 12 How can a warning benefit them? The Apostle who explained all things clearly had come to them, 13 yet they turned away from him and said: “This is a well-tutored madman.” 14 Were We to ease the torment for a while, you would still revert to denial of the truth. 15 On the day when We shall seize them with the greater seizure, (then) in truth We shall punish. 16 ۞ And certainly We tried before them the people of Firon, and there came to them a noble apostle, 17 (saying:) 'Be obedient to me O worshipers of Allah. I am your honest Messenger. 18 And saying: Be not proud against Allah. Lo! I bring you a clear warrant. 19 I seek protection from my Lord and your Lord from your decision of stoning me. 20 'But if so be that you believe me not, go you apart from me!' 21 Then he called upon his Lord: These are a guilty people. 22 (His Lord answered): 'Set out with My worshipers in the night, for you will surely be followed. 23 “And leave the sea as it is, parted in several places; indeed that army will be drowned.” 24 How many gardens did they leave behind, and how many fountains 25 And fields and grand palaces! 26 And comforts of life wherein they used to take delight! 27 Thus it was; and We passed them on to another people. 28 Neither did the heavens weep for them, nor the earth, nor were they granted respite. 29

قراءة القرآن مترجماً إلى الإنجليزية أو أية لغة أخرى أشبه بقراءة كتب التفسير من قراءة ترجمات حرفية.
Reading the Quran translated into English, or any other language, is more like reading books of interpretation than reading literal translations.
