(Muhammad), remind them, by the Grace of your Lord, that you are neither a soothsayer or an insane person. 29 Or do they say: "[He is but] a poet - let us wait what time will do unto him"? 30 Say thou: "Wait, [then,] hopefully; behold, I, too, shall hopefully wait with you!" 31 Enjoin them their understandings to this? or are they a people conumacious? 32 What! They say, “He has invented the Qur'an”? Rather they do not have faith. 33 So let them bring a discourse like it, if they are truthful 34 [Or do they deny the existence of God?] Have they themselves been created without anything [that might have caused their creation]? or were they, perchance, their own creators? 35 Or did they create the heavens and the earth? Nay, but they have no firm Belief. 36 Are with them the treasures of thy Lord! or are they the dispensers? 37 Or, do they have a ladder on which they listen? Then let any of them that has listened bring a clear authority. 38 Or does Allah have daughters whereas you have sons? 39 Or askest thou (Muhammad) a fee from them so that they are plunged in debt? 40 Or is it that they have access to (the Truths in) the realm beyond sense-perception which they are writing down? 41 Or do they want to entrap [thee in contradictions]? But they who are bent on denying the truth - it is they who are truly entrapped! 42 Or do they have a God besides Allah? Purity is to Allah from their ascribing of partners to Him. 43 Even if they were to see a part of the heavens falling down upon them, they would say, "It is only dense cloud". 44 So leave them alone until they face the day when they will be struck dead from terror 45 A Day whereon their plotting will avail them not at all, nor will they be succoured. 46 Truly, for those who do wrong there is a punishment besides that, though most of them do not know it. 47 And wait thou patiently the judgment of thy Lord; verily thou art before Our eyes; and hallow the praise of thy Lord when thou uprisest. 48 and glorify Him after the setting of the stars. 49
