The Snatchers (Al-Naze'aat)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
I CALL TO WITNESS those who dive and drag, 1 and those that blow gently, 2 And by those who float in space, 3 and vie with the others (in carrying out their Lord's behests); 4 And those who govern the event, 5 The day on which the quaking one shall quake, 6 Followed by the second blast, 7 On that day hearts beat painfully 8 Their looks will be downcast. 9 (The disbelievers) say, "Shall we be brought back to life again 10 After having turned to carious bones?" 11 They say: "It would, in that case, be a return with loss!" 12 But verily, it will be but a single (Compelling) Cry, 13 and they will be upon the surface of the earth (alive). 14 Have you received the story of Moses? 15 How his Lord called him in the holy vale of Tuwa, 16 saying, "Go to the Pharaoh. He has transgressed beyond all bounds. 17 And say, "Hast thou the will to purify thyself; 18 I shall guide you to your Lord so that you may perhaps have fear of Him". 19 And thereupon he [went to Pharaoh and] made him aware of the great wonder [of God's grace]. 20 But he rejected (the truth) and disobeyed. 21 then he turned away hastily, 22 Then he gathered (men) and called out. 23 “I am the supreme lord of you all.” 24 And thereupon God took him to task, [and made him] a warning example in the life to come as well as in this world. 25 Most surely there is in this a lesson to him who fears. 26
