Tell them the story of Abraham, 69 when he asked his father and others, "What do you worship?" 70 They said: "We worship idols, and we remain constantly in attendance on them." 71 He said: "Do they hear you, when you call (on them)? 72 Or do they benefit or harm you? 73 They said: Nay, but we found our fathers acting on this wise. 74 He said: have ye observed that which ye worship 75 Ye and your fathers of old? 76 Lo! they are (all) an enemy unto me, save the Lord of the Worlds, 77 Who created me, and He [it is who] guides me. 78 It is He who gives me food and drink 79 and heals me when I am sick. 80 "Who will cause me to die, and then to life (again); 81 And Who, I ardently hope, will forgive me my sin on the Day of Judgment. 82 "O my Sustainer! Endow me with the ability to judge [between right and wrong,] and make me one with the righteous, 83 and appoint me a tongue of truthfulness among the others. 84 And make me of the heirs of the garden of bliss 85 Forgive me and my father: He was surely among those who went astray. 86 And disgrace me not on the day when they are raised 87 The Day whereon neither wealth nor sons will avail, 88 except him who comes before Allah with a pure heart; 89 And Paradise will be brought close for the pious. 90 And Hell is brought near to the perverse' 91 and they will be asked: "Where now is all that you were wont to worship 92 Instead of Allah? Can they help you or help themselves? 93 Thereupon they will be hurled into hell - they, as well as all [others] who had been lost in grievous error, 94 And the hosts of the Shaitan, all. 95 "Quarrelling therein with each other, 96 "By God, we were most obviously astray 97 “When we considered you equal to the Lord Of The Creation.” 98 And none but the guilty led us astray; 99 Now we have no intercessors, 100 and no sincere friend. 101 Oh, that we had another turn (on earth), that we might be of the believers! 102 Indeed in that is a sign, but most of them were not to be believers. 103 Verily Your Lord is Immensely Mighty, Ever Compassionate. 104
