Resurrection (Al-Qeyaamah)
Allah - beginning with the name of - the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
۞ I swear by the Day of Resurrection. 1 And I swear by the self-reproaching soul. 2 What, does man reckon We shall not gather his bones? 3 Yea indeed, We are able to make whole his very finger-tips! 4 But man desires to persist in his evil ways. 5 'When will the Day of Resurrection be' he asks, 6 But when sight is confounded 7 and the moon eclipsed, 8 and the sun and moon are brought together, 9 On that day man will cry out, “Where shall I flee?” 10 No indeed; not a refuge! 11 on that Day, to your Lord alone is the recourse. 12 To man will be declared on that Day that which he hath sent on and left behind. 13 In fact, people are well-aware of their own soul 14 Although he may put forth his pleas. 15 Move not your tongue with it, [O Muhammad], to hasten with recitation of the Qur'an. 16 Surely on Us (devolves) the collecting of it and the reciting of it. 17 So when We have read it, you should thereupon follow what is read. 18 Again on Us (devolves) the explaining of it. 19 Truly, you love immediate gain 20 And neglect the Hereafter. 21 Some faces will be radiant on that Day, 22 Looking toward their Lord; 23 And some faces, that Day, will be sad and dismal, 24 Expecting that there will be done to them [something] backbreaking. 25 By no means! When it cometh up to the collar-bone. 26 and people ask, "Is there any wizard [that could save him]?" 27 and he realises that the hour of parting is come, 28 And leg will be joined with another leg (shrouded) 29 On that day, the herding will be only towards your Lord. 30
