And mention in the Book (the Quran) Ibrahim (Abraham). Verily! He was a man of truth, a Prophet. 41 When he said to his father,* “O my father – why do you worship one which neither hears nor sees, and cannot benefit you in any way?” (* His uncle Azar.) 42 "O my father! Behold, there has indeed come to me [a ray] of knowledge such as has never yet come unto thee: follow me, then; I shall guide thee onto a perfect way. 43 Father, serve not Satan; surely Satan is a rebel against the All-merciful. 44 Father, I am afraid that the Beneficent God's torment will strike you and you will become a friend of satan." 45 He said, “What! You turn away from my Gods, O Ibrahim? If you do not desist, I will certainly stone you, and keep no relation with me for a long while.” 46 He answered: "Peace be on you. I will seek forgiveness of my Lord for you. He has been gracious to me. 47 I will separate myself from you and from whatever you call upon besides God, and I will pray only to my Lord. It may well be that, in calling on my Lord, I will not be disappointed." 48 And after he had withdrawn from them and from all that they were worshipping instead of God, We bestowed upon him Isaac and Jacob, and made each of them a prophet; 49 and We bestowed on them Our mercy, and granted them a truly lofty renown. 50
