Messengers, eat what is wholesome and do good deeds: I am well aware of what you do. 51 And verily this Brotherhood of yours is a single Brotherhood, and I am your Lord and Cherisher: therefore fear Me (and no other). 52 But people later cut up their religion into bits, each group rejoicing in what they have. 53 But leave them in their confused ignorance for a time. 54 Do they imagine that the wealth and children We have provided 55 We would hasten them on in every good? Nay, they do not understand. 56 Those who tremble with fear of their Lord; 57 And those who believe in the signs of their Lord – 58 And those who ascribe not partners unto their Lord, 59 And those who dispense their charity with their hearts full of fear, because they will return to their Lord;- 60 These people hasten to perform goodness, and it is they who shall reach it first. 61 We do not burden a soul beyond capacity, for We have a record that tells the truth. No wrong will be done to any one. 62 Nay, their hearts are in overwhelming ignorance with respect to it and they have besides this other deeds which they do. 63 Until when We overtake those who lead easy lives among them with punishment, lo! they cry for succor. 64 Supplicate not this day! Assuredly ye will not be helped by Us. 65 "My Signs used to be rehearsed to you, but ye used to turn back on your heels- 66 being proud against it, talking foolishness by night. 67 Pondered they not over the Word? or came there unto them that which came not unto their fathers ancient? 68 Or did you not recognize your Messenger and, thus, denied him (Muhammad) 69 Or do they say that there is madness in him? Nay, he has brought them the Truth and it is the Truth that most of them disdain. 70 But if the truth were in accord with their own likes and dislikes, the heavens and the earth would surely have fallen into ruin, and all that lives in them [would long ago have perished]! Nay, [in this divine writ] We have conveyed unto them all that they ought to bear in mind: and from this their reminder they [heedlessly] turn away! 71 Or do you ask of them any tribute? In that case the tribute of your Lord is better, for He is the best of providers. 72 You are calling them to a Straight Way, 73 And lo! those who believe not in the Hereafter are indeed astray from the path. 74 ۞ And if We have mercy upon them and remove the calamity which has befallen them, they would still stubbornly persist, wandering in their rebellion. 75 Already have We grasped them with punishment, but they humble not themselves unto their Lord, nor do they pray, 76 until We opened upon them the door of a severe chastisement. Then lo, in this state they become utterly despaired of any good. 77
