The 'Aad belied the sent ones. 123 Behold, their brother Hud said to them: "Will ye not fear (Allah)? 124 "Verily! I am a trustworthy Messenger to you. 125 So fear Allah and obey me. 126 "And no reward whatever do I ask of you for it: my reward rests with none but the Sustainer of all the worlds. 127 "Will you, in your wanton folly, build [idolatrous] altars on every height, 128 "And do you get for yourselves palaces (fine buildings) as if you will live therein for ever. 129 "And when ye exert your strong hand, do ye do it like men of absolute power? 130 So guard against (the punishment of) Allah and obey me 131 and fear Him who has succoured you with what you know, 132 Hath aided you with cattle and sons. 133 and gardens, and springs -- 134 I am afraid that you will suffer the torment of the Day of Judgment." 135 They said, "It is all the same to us whether you advise or are not of the advisors. 136 this is nothing but the habit of the ancients, 137 and we shall not be chastised.' 138 So they cried him lies; then We destroyed them. Surely in that is a sign, yet most of them are not believers. 139 And lo! thy Lord, He is indeed the Mighty, the Merciful. 140
