Unknown Person (Al-Muzzammil)
In the Name of Allah, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful
O you wrapped in garments (i.e. Prophet Muhammad SAW)! 1 Keep awake [in prayer] at night, all but a small part 2 A half thereof, or abate a little thereof, 3 or add to it a little; and recite the Qur'an slowly and distinctly. 4 Soon shall We send down to thee a weighty Message. 5 Verily, the rising by night (for Tahajjud prayer) is very hard and most potent and good for governing (the soul), and most suitable for (understanding) the Word (of Allah). 6 You have by day prolonged occupations [with Dawah work]. 7 But [whether by night or by day,] remember thy Sustainer's name, and devote thyself unto Him with utter devotion. 8 He is the only Lord, so choose Him as your guardian. 9 And have patience with what they say, and leave them with noble (dignity). 10 And leave Me (alone to deal with) those in possession of the good things of life, who (yet) deny the Truth; and bear with them for a little while. 11 With Us are Fetters (to bind them), and a Fire (to burn them), 12 choking food and a painful punishment. 13 On the Day when the earth and the mountains will be in violent shake, and the mountains will be a heap of sand poured out and flowing down. 14 Surely We have sent to you a Messenger as a witness over you, just as We had sent a Messenger to Pharaoh. 15 In response Firaun disobeyed the Noble Messenger, so We seized him with a severe seizure. 16 Then how, if ye disbelieve, will ye protect yourselves upon the day which will turn children grey, 17 [the Day] on which the skies shall be rent asunder, [and] His promise [of resurrection] fulfilled? 18 Verily, this is an admonition, therefore whosoever will, let him take a Path to His Lord! 19
