Resurrection (Al-Qeyaamah)
In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
۞ I swear by the Day of Resurrection 1 And by oath of the soul that reproaches itself. 2 Does man think that We shall not gather his bones? 3 Yes. [We are] Able [even] to proportion his fingertips. 4 But man desires to continue in sin. 5 he asks, "When is this Day of Resurrection to be?" 6 When the eye is bewildered, 7 and the moon is eclipsed, 8 And sun and moon are united, 9 That Day will Man say: "Where is the refuge?" 10 Never so, for there will be no escape. 11 With your Lord alone will be the retreat that Day. 12 Man will be apprised, on that Day, of what he has done and what he has left undone: 13 Nay, man will be evidence against himself, 14 Though he puts forth his excuses. 15 Stir not thy tongue herewith to hasten it. 16 We Ourself shall see to its collection and recital. 17 So, when We recite it, follow thou its recitation. 18 Then Ours it is to explain it. 19 Nay! But you love the present life, 20 and give no thought to the life to come [and to Judgment Day]! 21 Upon that day faces shall be radiant, 22 and look forward to receiving mercy from their Lord. 23 And on that Day there shall be scowling faces, 24 Fearing that a great disaster is going to befall them. 25 Yes indeed, when the soul will reach up to the throat. 26 And it is said, "Who will cure [him]?" 27 and he knows that it is the time of parting; 28 and is enwrapped in the pangs of death 29 on that Day he will be driven towards your Lord! 30
