And verily it is a revelation of the Lord of the worlds. 192 which the truthful spirit has carried down 193 Upon thy heart, that thou mayest be of the warners, 194 (a revelation) in clear Arabic language, 195 And lo! it is in the Scriptures of the men of old. 196 Is it not a token for them that the doctors of the Children of Israel know it? 197 If We had sent it down on a barbarian 198 And he had read it unto them, even then they would not have been believers therein. 199 Even so, We have caused it to enter into the hearts of harmdoers: 200 who will not believe in it, until they see the painful chastisement 201 that will come upon them [on resurrection,] all of a sudden, without their being aware [of its approach]; 202 And they will say, "May we be reprieved?" 203 Do they then ask for Our Penalty to be hastened on? 204 Hast thou then seen, if We content them for (long) years, 205 Yet there comes to them at length the (Punishment) which they were promised! 206 They would not be availed by the enjoyment with which they were provided. 207 And withal, never have We destroyed any community unless it had been warned 208 To warn. For We are never unjust. 209 It was not the satans who brought it down: 210 It behoveth them not, nor they can. 211 Indeed they have been banished from the place of hearing. 212 So call not upon another god with Allah, lest you be of those who are punished. 213 And warn thy clan, thy nearest kin. 214 and spread the wings of thy tenderness over all of the believers who may follow thee; 215 So if they do not obey you, then say, “Indeed I am unconcerned with what you do.” 216 Put thy trust in the All-mighty, the All-compassionate 217 Who observes you when you rise (to pray) 218 And your movement among those who prostrate. 219 He is the All Hearing, the All Knowing. 220 O people, shall I tell you on whom it is that satans descend? 221 They descend upon every sinful liar. 222 They pass on what is heard, and most of them are liars. 223 And as for the poets -- it is the misled who follow them. 224 Seest thou not that they wander distracted in every valley?- 225 And they say what they do not do, 226 Not so the true believers who do good works and remember God with fervour and defend themselves only after they are wronged. The wrongdoers will soon know how evil a turn their affairs will take. 227
