The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ WHEN THAT which must come to pass [at last] comes to pass, 1 There is no belying its coming to pass-- 2 Abasing (some), exalting (others); 3 When the earth will tremble, shivering. 4 and the mountains crumbled 5 So that they become a scattered dust, 6 And ye are classes three. 7 So those on the Right Hand (i.e. those who will be given their Records in their right hands), Who will be those on the Right Hand? (As a respect for them, because they will enter Paradise). 8 Companions of the Left (O Companions of the Left!) 9 The third to the fore shall be the foremost. 10 Those! they shall be the brought nigh, 11 in the Gardens of Delight 12 A [large] company of the former peoples 13 and a few from later times. 14 upon close-wrought couches 15 facing one another. 16 Immortal youths will wait upon them 17 with goblets, and ewers, and cups filled with water from unsullied springs 18 a drink by which their minds will not be clouded nor will it cause drunkenness; 19 And with fruit from that which they choose. 20 And the flesh of fowl such as they desire. 21 And (there are) fair ones with wide, lovely eyes, 22 Like unto hidden pearls, 23 Reward for what they used to do. 24 No Laghw (dirty, false, evil vain talk) will they hear therein, nor any sinful speech (like backbiting, etc.). 25 Nought but the saying: peace! peace! 26 And the fellows on the right hand; how be happy shall the fellows on the right hand be! 27 Among thorn-less lote-trees. 28 And clustered plantains, 29 And spreading shade, 30 and flowing water 31 And fruit abundant. 32 Neither limited [to season] nor forbidden, 33 And raised couches. 34 Verily, We have created them (maidens) of special creation. 35 And made them virgin - pure (and undefiled), - 36 chaste, loving companions of the same age 37 For the sake of the companions of the right hand. 38
