Incontestable (Al-Haaqqah)
52 verses, revealed in Mecca after Kingship (Al-Mulk) before The Heights (Al-Ma'aarej)
In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
۞ The sure calamity! 1 How awesome that laying-bare of the truth! 2 What makes you to know what the Resurrection Verifier is? 3 The Thamud and 'Ad denied the consequential calamity. 4 As for Thamud, they were destroyed by the outburst. 5 and as for Ad, they were destroyed by a wind clamorous, 6 which God let loose against them for seven nights and eight days unremittingly, so that you could have seen its people lying prostrate as though they were the hollow trunks of palm-trees which had fallen down. 7 Do you see any trace of them? 8 Then came the Pharaoh, and those before him whose habitations were overthrown while they were committing crimes. 9 and rebelled against their Sustainer's apostles: and so He took them to task with a punishing grasp exceedingly severe! 10 Indeed when the water swelled up, We boarded you onto the ship. 11 That We might make it a memorial for you, and that remembering ears (that heard the story) might remember. 12 And when the trumpet shall sound a single blast. 13 And the earth with the mountains shall be lifted up and crushed with one crash, 14 Then on that Day shall happen the Event. 15 and heaven shall be split, for upon that day it shall be very frail, 16 The angels will stand on all its sides. And on that Day, eight (of them) will carry the Throne of your Lord above them. 17 On that Day you shall be exposed, and no secret of yours will remain hidden. 18 Then as for him who will be given his Record in his right hand will say: "Take, read my Record! 19 Behold, I did know that [one day] I would have to face my account! 20 And he will be in a life of Bliss, 21 in a lofty Garden, 22 with clusters of fruit within easy reach. 23 (It will be said): 'Eat and drink with a good appetite because of what you did in days long passed' 24 And whoever is given his book in his left hand he will say, “Alas, if only my account were not given to me!” 25 And had not known what is my account. 26 O would that it had made an end (of me): 27 My wealth hath not availed me, 28 There hath perished from me my authority. 29 (The stern command will say): "Seize ye him, and bind ye him, 30 Then cast him into the burning fire, 31 then in a chain of seventy cubits' length insert him! 32 Behold, he never believed in God the All-mighty, 33 “And did not urge to feed the needy.” 34 So there is not for him here this Day any devoted friend 35 Nor food other than suppuration (filth) 36 which no one will eat except the sinners. 37
