The Snatchers (Al-Naze'aat)
In the Name of Allah, the Merciful, the Most Merciful
I CALL TO WITNESS those who dive and drag, 1 and gently take it away; 2 and by [the clouds] that swim serenely and 3 And those who race each other in a race 4 And direct affairs by command, 5 On the day when the first trump resoundeth. 6 followed by the succeeding, 7 Hearts that Day will be in agitation; 8 and their eyes shall be downcast with dread. 9 They say: "Shall we indeed be returned to (our) former state of life? 10 "What! - when we shall have become rotten bones?" 11 They say: that then shall be a losing return. 12 Surely it will need but one shout, 13 and lo, they will all be in the open plain. 14 Hath there come unto thee the story of Musa! 15 When his Lord called him in the sacred valley of Tuwa, 16 (Saying:) Go thou unto Pharaoh - Lo! he hath rebelled - 17 And say to him, "Would you like to reform yourself? 18 And I will guide you to your Lord so that you should fear. 19 Moses showed him the great sign, 20 But [Pharaoh] gave him the lie and rebelliously rejected [all guidance,] 21 Then he turned his back, striving. 22 So he gathered the people, and proclaimed. 23 Saying: "I am your lord, most high", 24 And thereupon God took him to task, [and made him] a warning example in the life to come as well as in this world. 25 Surely, in this there is a lesson for he that fears! 26
