He Frowned ('Abasa)
In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
۞ HE FROWNED and turned away 1 Because the blind man had come in his august presence. 2 And what would make you know that he would purify himself, 3 Or that he might receive admonition, and that the admonition might profit him? 4 As for him who thinks himself self-sufficient, 5 You pay full attention, 6 What does it matter to you if he will not become pure (from disbelief, you are only a Messenger, your duty is to convey the Message of Allah). 7 As for the one who comes to you earnestly (striving for guidance). 8 and fears (Allah), 9 From him will you divert yourself. 10 Nay! surely it is an admonishment. 11 (and whoso wills, shall remember it) 12 (It is) in Books held (greatly) in honour, 13 Exalted (in dignity), kept pure and holy, 14 [Carried] by the hands of messenger-angels, 15 noble and virtuous scribes. 16 Cursed be man! how ungrateful is he! 17 Of what [stuff] has He created him? 18 Of a small seed; He created him, then He made him according to a measure, 19 Then the way He made easy. 20 then causes him to die and buries him, 21 and then, whenever He wishes, He will raise him back to life. 22 But no. He has not fulfilled what was enjoined on him. 23 Then let man look at his food, (and how We provide it): 24 That We pour forth water in abundance, 25 and then We cleaved the earth asunder. 26 And We made corn grow, 27 And grapes and fodder, 28 And Olives and Dates, 29 and dense orchards, 30 and fruit and pastures, 31 (To be) a provision and benefit for you and your cattle. 32 But, when the Blast comes, 33 on a Day when everyone will [want to] flee from his brother, 34 And from his mother and father, 35 and from his spouse and his children: 36 On that day, each one has just one issue, which is enough for him. 37 Some faces on that day shall shine 38 laughing and joyful, 39 Some faces on that Day shall be dust-ridden, 40 Veiled in darkness, 41 those will be ones who denied the truth and were immersed in iniquity. 42
