And recount to them the story of Abraham: 69 Behold, he said to his father and his people: "What worship ye?" 70 They said, 'We serve idols, and continue cleaving to them. 71 He said, “Do they hear you when you call?” 72 "Or do you good or harm?" 73 They answered: "No; but we found our forefathers doing so." 74 He said: 'Have you considered what you worship, 75 Ye and your forefathers! 76 "Now [as for me, I know that,] verily, these [false deities] are my enemies, [and that none is my helper] save the Sustainer of all the worlds, 77 who has created me and is the One who guides me, 78 "Who gives me food and drink, 79 And when I am sick, then He restores me to health 80 Who will cause me to die and then will again restore me to life; 81 And who I aspire that He will forgive me my sin on the Day of Recompense." 82 O Lord, give me wisdom and admit me among the righteous, 83 Make my words come true in the future. 84 And place me among the inheritors of the Garden of Pleasure. 85 Forgive me and my father: He was surely among those who went astray. 86 "And let me not be in disgrace on the Day when (men) will be raised up;- 87 the Day when nothing will avail, neither wealth nor offspring, 88 But to him who comes to God with a tranquil heart." 89 And the Garden will be brought nigh for those who ward off (evil). 90 And Hell is brought near to the perverse' 91 It will be said to them: 'Where is that you worshipped, 92 instead of God? Can these [things and beings] be of any help to you or to themselves?" 93 "Then they will be thrown headlong into the (Fire),- they and those straying in Evil, 94 and the hosts of Iblis - all together. 95 And there and then, blaming one another, they [who had grievously sinned in life] will exclaim: 96 By Allah! we were certainly in manifest error, 97 when we made you equal with the Lord of the Universe. 98 “And none misled us but the guilty.” 99 so now we have no intercessors, 100 nor a loving friend. 101 If only we could return and be among the believers!" 102 In this there is evidence (of the truth), but many of them do not have any faith. 103 And verily thy Lord! He is the Mighty, the Merciful. 104
