Vanity (Al-Zukhruf)
In the name of Allah, most benevolent, ever-merciful
Ha. Mim. 1 By the clear Book, 2 We verily, have made it a Quran in Arabic, that you may be able to understand (its meanings and its admonitions). 3 And verily it is, in the Original Book before Us, indeed exalted. 4 What! shall We then turn away the reminder from you altogether because you are an extravagant people? 5 And how many Prophets We did send among the earlier people! 6 And not a prophet came unto them but him they were wont to mock. 7 and so, [in the end,] We destroyed them [even though they were] of greater might than these: and the [very] image of those people of old became a thing of the past. 8 Yet thus it is [with most people]: if thou ask them, "Who is it that has created the heavens and the earth?" - they will surely answer, "The Almighty, the All-Knowing has created them." 9 He who appointed the earth to be a cradle for you, and appointed ways for you therein, that haply you may be guided; 10 And Who sent down water from the sky with a proper measure, so We revived a dead city with it; this is how you will be taken out. 11 And Who hath treated the pairs, all of them, and appointed for you from ships and cattle things whereon ye ride. 12 That you may firmly sit on their backs, then remember the favor of your Lord when you are firmly seated thereon, and say: Glory be to Him Who made this subservient to us and we were not able to do it 13 To our Lord we shall all return". 14 Yet they make some of His creatures His offspring! Man is surely most ungrateful. 15
