The Hidden Secret (Al-Muddath-thir)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
O the Cloaked One! (Prophet Mohammed – peace and blessings be upon him) 1 Arise and warn! 2 Proclaim the glory of your Lord; 3 And thy garments keep free from stain! 4 And uncleanness do shun, 5 Do not give, thinking to gain greater 6 and persevere for your Lord's sake. 7 Then, when the Trumpet is sounded (i.e. its second blowing); 8 it will be a hard day 9 Not easy upon the disbelievers. 10 Leave Me (to deal) with him whom I created lonely, 11 and whom I have granted abundant wealth 12 And sons always present by his side, 13 I made things smooth and easy for him, 14 and who still desires more. 15 By no means! Verily he hath been unto Our signs a foe. 16 Soon will I visit him with a mount of calamities! 17 For he thought and he plotted -- 18 and woe to him; how he plotted! 19 And again perish he! How maliciously he devised! 20 Then he looked, 21 frowned and scowled, 22 then he retreated and grew proud 23 and said: 'This is no more than traced sorcery; 24 this is nothing but the word of a mere mortal!” 25 I will surely roast him in the Scorching. 26 and what will teach thee what is Sakar? 27 It neither spares, nor releases, 28 It shrivelleth the man. 29 Over it are appointed nineteen. 30 We have appointed only angels to be wardens of the Fire, and their number have We made to be a stumbling-block for those who disbelieve; that those to whom the Scripture hath been given may have certainty, and that believers may increase in faith; and that those to whom the Scripture hath been given and believers may not doubt; and that those in whose hearts there is disease, and disbelievers, may say: What meaneth Allah by this similitude? Thus Allah sendeth astray whom He will, and whom He will He guideth. None knoweth the hosts of thy Lord save Him. This is naught else than a Reminder unto mortals. 31
