۞ [The angels will be ordered], "Gather those who committed wrong, their kinds, and what they used to worship 22 Instead of Allah, and lead them to the path to hell; 23 And stop them, for they shall be questioned: 24 "Why help you not one another?" 25 Nay, but that Day they shall surrender, 26 and advance one upon another, asking each other questions. 27 saying: 'You used to come to us from the right hand' 28 They shall say: Nay, you (yourselves) were not believers; 29 And we had over you no authority, but you were a transgressing people. 30 "So now has been proved true, against us, the word of our Lord that we shall indeed (have to) taste (the punishment of our sins). 31 "So we led you astray because we were ourselves astray." 32 So, they will become partners in punishment. 33 Surely thus do We deal with the guilty. 34 Indeed they, when it was said to them, "There is no deity but Allah," were arrogant 35 and would say: "Shall we, then, give up our deities at the bidding of a mad poet?" 36 In fact, he had brought them the truth and had acknowledged the Messengers (who were sent before him). 37 You will indeed taste a painful punishment, 38 although you shall not be requited for aught but what you were wont to do. 39 Except for God's sincere servants; 40 For them there will be a known provision (in Paradise). 41 fruits. And they are receivers of generosity 42 (They will live) in the bountiful gardens, 43 seated on couches, facing one another. 44 Round shall be passed a cup unto them filled with limpid drink: 45 delicious to those who drink it 46 No bad effect is there in it, nor from it will they be intoxicated. 47 And with them will be chaste females, restraining their glances (desiring none except their husbands), with wide and beautiful eyes. 48 who are as chaste as sheltered eggs. 49 They advance one upon another, asking each other questions. 50 One of them will say: “I had a companion in the world 51 'Do you believe in the Day of Judgment? 52 That when we have died and become dust and bones, we will indeed be recompensed?'" 53 Do you want to see him?' " 54 And he will look and see him in the midst of the Hellfire. 55 And he will say: by Allah, thou hadst wellnigh causedest me to perish. 56 "Had it not been for the Grace of my Lord, I should certainly have been among those brought (there)! 57 (Allah informs about that true believer that he said): "Are we then not to die (any more)? 58 Other than our first death, and we shall not be punished? 59 This will indeed be great happiness. 60 For such a reward should the workers perform. 61 Is this better or the tree of Zaqqum 62 We have made this (tree) a trial for the evildoers. 63 For it is a tree that springs out of the bottom of Hell-Fire: 64 Its produce is as it were the heads of the serpents. 65 and they eat of it, and of it fill their bellies, 66 Then on the top of that they will be given boiling water to drink so that it becomes a mixture (of boiling water and Zaqqum in their bellies). 67 Then their return will be to the same blazing Hell. 68 Truly they found their fathers on the wrong Path; 69 So in their footsteps they are being hastened on. 70 Thus, indeed, most of the people of old went astray before them, 71 But We sent aforetime, among them, (messengers) to admonish them;- 72 Then see the nature of the consequence for those warned, 73 Not so the chosen servants of God. 74
