The Rolling (Al-Takweer)
In the name of Allah, the Merciful, the Compassionate
When the sun (with its spacious light) is folded up; 1 And when the stars fall, dispersing, 2 And when the mountains shall be made to pass away, 3 And when the camels big with young are abandoned, 4 and when all beasts are gathered together, 5 When the oceans boil over with a swell; 6 when the souls shall be coupled, 7 and when the girl-child that was buried alive is made to ask 8 Upon what sin was she killed for. 9 And when the books are spread, 10 The curtain drawn back from the skies, 11 and when the blazing fire [of hell] is kindled bright, 12 And when the Garden is brought nigh, 13 (Then) shall each soul know what it has put forward. 14 So verily I call to witness the planets - that recede, 15 orbiting, disappearing; 16 by the night when it approaches 17 and brightening morning, 18 behold, this [divine writ] is indeed the [inspired] word of a noble apostle, 19 Owner of power, and high rank with (Allah) the Lord of the Throne, 20 [the word] of one to be heeded, and worthy of trust! 21 Your companion is not possessed; 22 He had surely seen Him on the clear horizon. 23 He is not chary of making public what is unknown. 24 Nor is it the word of a satan accursed. 25 Whither then go ye? 26 This is merely a reminder to all mankind; 27 for whosoever of you who would go straight; 28 but your wishing will not avail unless Allah, the Lord of the Universe, so wishes. 29
