The Embryo (Al-Alaq)
In the name of Allah, the Merciful, the Compassionate
Read with the name of your Lord Who created, 1 created man out of a germ-cell 2 Read! Your Lord is the Most Bountiful One 3 Who has taught (the writing) by the pen [the first person to write was Prophet Idrees (Enoch)]. 4 He taught the human being what he did not know. 5 Nay! Verily, man does transgress all bounds (in disbelief and evil deed, etc.). 6 As he considers himself independent! 7 Verily, to thy Lord is the return (of all). 8 Seest thou one who forbids- 9 A servant when he prays? 10 Have you thought, if he had been on guidance 11 Or had enjoined piety, (it would have been better)? 12 Seest thou if he denies (Truth) and turns away? 13 Does he not know that God sees? 14 Nay, if he desist not, We shall most surely drag him down upon his forehead 15 a lying, sinful forelock. 16 So, let him call upon his way! 17 We also shall call the infernal guards. 18 No, not at all. Never obey him. But prostrate yourself and become nigh (to your Lord). ۩ 19
