Then, when the Messengers (the angels) came unto the family of Lout (Lot). 61 he said, 'Surely you are a people unknown to me!' 62 They answered: "Nay, but we have come unto thee with [the announcement of] something that they [who are given to evil] have always been wont to call in question, 63 And we have come to you with the truth, and we are most surely truthful. 64 so leave with your family some time in the latter part of the night, and walk behind them. Let none of you look back. Go where you are commanded." 65 And We made plain the case to him, that the root of them (who did wrong) was to be cut at early morn. 66 And there came the people of the city rejoicing 67 He said: 'These are my guests; do not shame me. 68 And keep your duty to Allah, and shame me not! 69 They said, "Did we not forbid you to extend hospitality to strangers?" 70 He said, “These women of our tribe are my daughters, if you have to.” 71 By thy life, in their intoxication they were wandering bewildered. 72 So the rumbling overtook them (while) entering upon the time of sunrise; 73 We turned the town upside-down and showered on them lumps of baked clay. 74 Indeed in that are signs for those who discern. 75 That town lies on a road which still exists. 76 Verily there is a Sign in this for the believers. 77 And the companions of the thicket were [also] wrongdoers. 78 So We chastised them. The desolate locations of both communities lie on a well-known highway. 79
