We did not create this heaven and earth and all that lies between them in vain. That is the fancy of those who denied the Truth. So woe from the Fire to all who deny the Truth. 27 Or shall We make those who believe and do righteous deeds as the workers of corruption in the earth, or shall We make the godfearing as the transgressors? 28 This is a Book We have sent down unto thee, blest, that they may ponder the revelations thereof, and that there may be admonished men of understanding. 29 To David We gave Solomon (for a son),- How excellent in Our service! Ever did he turn (to Us)! 30 When there were shown to him at eventide lightfooted coursers 31 he said, "I have put the love of good things above the remembrance of my Lord," until [the sun] disappeared behind its veil and the horses disappeared from sight, 32 (he ordered): “Bring these horses back to me,” and then he began to gently stroke their shanks and necks. 33 We tried Solomon by placing upon his throne a [lifeless] body; and thereupon he turned towards Us]. 34 He said: 'Forgive me my Lord, and give me a kingdom the like of which will not befall any after me, surely, You are the Giver' 35 Then We made the wind subservient to him; it made his command to run gently wherever he desired, 36 And also the Shayatin (devils) from the jinns (including) every kind of builder and diver, 37 and others linked together in fetters. 38 We told him, "This is Our gift to you so give them away free or keep them as you like". 39 And he has a place near to Us, and a fine return. 40
