And whosoever blindeth himself to the admonition of the Compassionate, We assign unto him a satan, and he becometh his companion. 36 And verily, they (Satans / devils) hinder them from the Path (of Allah), but they think that they are guided aright! 37 Till, when he cometh unto Us, he saith (unto his comrade): Ah, would that between me and thee there were the distance of the two horizons - an evil comrade! 38 And since you were unjust, it will not profit you this day that you are sharers in the chastisement. 39 Canst thou then make the deaf to hear, or give direction to the blind or to such as (wander) in manifest error? 40 And if We take thee away, We surely shall take vengeance on them, 41 Or We shall show thee that (accomplished) which We have promised them: for verily We shall prevail over them. 42 So hold fast to what has been revealed to you. You are truly on the right path. 43 it is certainly a reminder to you and to your people and you will soon be called to account. 44 Yet [above all else,] ask any of Our apostles whom We sent forth before thy time whether We have ever allowed that deities other than the Most Gracious be worshipped! 45
