The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
In the name of Allah, the Compassionate, the Merciful
۞ When the Event will come to pass 1 There is, at its occurrence, no denial. 2 (Many) will it bring low; (many) will it exalt; 3 When the earth shall be shaken to its depths, 4 And the mountains will be crushed, blown to bits. 5 and become a dust, scattered, 6 And you shall be three sorts. 7 Those on the Right -- how blessed are those on the Right! 8 And those on the left hand; how miserable shall those on the left hand be! 9 The foremost ones (in faith and virtue) - the foremost ones in receiving their reward. 10 Those are the ones brought near [to Allah] 11 In the gardens of bliss. 12 a host of the ancients 13 And a few from among the latter. 14 On couches in wrought with gold. 15 Reclining therein face to face. 16 There wait on them immortal youths 17 Cups and decanters, beakers full of sparkling wine, 18 Wherefrom they will get neither any aching of the head, nor any intoxication. 19 And with fruit from that which they choose. 20 And the flesh of fowls that they desire. 21 And [for them are] fair women with large, [beautiful] eyes, 22 Like pearls within their shells, 23 [And this will be] a reward for what they did [in life]. 24 No Laghw (dirty, false, evil vain talk) will they hear therein, nor any sinful speech (like backbiting, etc.). 25 but only the tiding of inner soundness and peace. 26 And the companions of the right hand; how happy are the companions of the right hand! 27 [They will be] among lote trees with thorns removed 28 Among Talh (banana-trees) with fruits piled one above another, 29 In shade long-extended, 30 near to flowing water 31 And fruit in plenty 32 never-ending and unforbidden. 33 And couches raised up. 34 We have indeed developed these women with an excellent development. 35 and We made them spotless virgins, 36 Loving, equals in age, 37 For the fellows on the right hand. 38
