The News (Al-Naba')
In the Name of God, the Merciful, the Compassionate
۞ What do they question each other about! 1 About the great news - 2 Concerning which they differ. 3 Surely yes, they will soon come to know! 4 Verily, verily they shall soon (come to) know! 5 Have We not made the earth an expanse. 6 And the mountains as projections (thereon)? 7 And We created you in pairs, 8 and We made your sleep a rest, 9 and the night as a cover, 10 and We appointed day for a livelihood. 11 And We made above you seven strong ones, 12 and have placed [therein the sun,] a lamp full of blazing splendour. 13 From the rain clouds We send waters pouring down in abundance, 14 so that We may thereby bring forth grain and vegetation, 15 and gardens dense with follage. 16 Surely the day of decision is (a day) appointed: 17 The Day when the Trumpet will be blown, and you shall come forth in crowds (groups); 18 And the heaven is opened and becometh as gates, 19 And the mountains shall vanish, as if they were a mirage. 20 Surely, Hell lies in wait, 21 For the transgressors, a place of return, 22 therein to tarry for ages, 23 Finding neither sleep nor any thing to drink 24 save boiling water and wash of the wounds; 25 An exact recompense (according to their evil crimes). 26 For that they used not to fear any account (for their deeds), 27 And denied Our verses with [emphatic] denial. 28 And We have kept recorded everything in a Book, accounted for. 29 'Taste! We shall increase you not save in chastisement.' 30
