We gave Moses the Book, and made his brother Aaron his minister, 35 and We said, 'Go to the people who have cried lies to Our signs'; then We destroyed them utterly. 36 And the people of Nuh, when they rejected the apostles, We drowned them, and made them a sign for men, and We have prepared a painful punishment for the unjust; 37 (As for) 'Ad, Thamud and the people of ar-Rass, and many generations in between them, 38 And We illustrated examples to each one of them; and ruining them, annihilated them all. 39 And indeed they have passed by the town [of Prophet Lout (Lot)] on which was rained the evil rain. Did they (disbelievers) not then see it (with their own eyes)? Nay! But they used not to expect for any resurrection. 40 And when they see you, [O Muhammad], they take you not except in ridicule, [saying], "Is this the one whom Allah has sent as a messenger? 41 He had almost led us astray from our gods, had we not remained firm in our faith with regard to them. " The time is not far when they will see the torment and realize who had strayed far from the truth. 42 Hast thou observed him who hath taken as his god his own desire! wilt thou be over him a trustee? 43 Or deemest thou that most of them hear or understand? They are but as the cattle - nay, but they are farther astray? 44
